Mam-on Island and Suyangan Island | Siargao Part 7

Mam-On Island and Suyangan Island are found just off the coast of mainland Siargao. The two islands have beautiful beaches and are covered in palm tree-covered hills. The reef surrounding both islands and in the channel between the two is truly remarkable.

From Siargao, it is about a one-hour boat journey if you leave General Luna on a classic, outrigger boat. There are no standard tours offered to Mam-On Island and Suyangan Island. However, many of the tour operators use Mam-On and Suyungan as an alternative to the other, busier islands.

Sugba Lagoon | Siargao Island Part 6

Sugba Lagoon is one of Siargao’s top rated destinations which offers an unforgettable experience at one of the bluest lagoons you’ll ever see.

Sugba Lagoon is about an hour boat ride from Del Carmen or an hour and a half boat ride from General Luna. From the air, Sugba Lagoon resembles a strange maze of vibrant water separated by small islands and domed mountains.

It is hidden in the heart of the second biggest mangrove in the Philippines. The scenic boat ride will take you past a mystical mangrove forest and into a vivid turquoise-hued lagoon surrounded by lush greenery. Every corner of the lagoon is a post-worthy landscape shot. One can get to partake in water activities like swimming, jumping off the iconic diving board, or paddling it out on a bamboo raft.

Siargao Tri-Island | Naked, Guyam & Daku (Siargao Part 2)

There are so many awesome things to do in Siargao Island but one of the most popular activities is to get off the island and go island hopping. There are three beautiful islands only a short long-tail boat trip away from General Luna. These are Guyam Island, Daku Island, and Naked Island.

All three islands are in close proximity to each other and have powdery white sands and clear blue seas. Naked Island is so-called because it is a beautiful sandbar devoid of vegetation. Guyam Island is a small tropical paradise where walking around it would not take more than 15 minutes. It also has a snorkeling spot with coral formations. Daku derives its name from the Visayan word for ‘big’ or ‘large’ and it is the biggest among the three. Optional activities include snorkeling, swimming, kayaking and surfing. The southern end of the island has big waves and suitable for surfing.

Igorot Stone Kingdom | Baguio City

Located on the mountainside along Long-long Road, Pinsao Proper Village, Baguio City, Igorot Stone Kingdom showcases Igorot culture, practices and traditions as well as the life of the inhabitants of the Cordillera region.

The park covering a 6,000-square meter area features the Igorot ingenuity in creating stone walls similar to the rice terraces in Battad, Banaue.

Among the main attractions at the stone kingdom is a tower that depicts the fantasy story of Gatan and Bangan, an Igorot man and woman who survived the great holocaust, a fertility stone tower, and a Kabunyan (Igorot God) tower.

On the right side of the mountain facing the stone wall are modern-day castles made of cement and hollow blocks.

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ)

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) features an innovative design by award winning architect Jean Nouvel that is inspired by the desert rose. It was opened on 28 March 2019. Time Magazine named it one of the World’s Greatest Places to Visit in 2019, citing the integration of “immersive video screens and dioramas” into Jean Nouvel’s architectural design.

The museum is located on at the south end of Doha’s Corniche. The 430,000 square foot (40,000 m²) structure is made up of interlocking discs that create cavities to protect visitors from the desert heat.

A tour of the museum takes visitors through a loop of galleries that address three major interrelated themes. The galleries are loosely arranged in chronological order, beginning with exhibitions on the natural history of the desert and the Persian Gulf, artefacts from Bedouin culture, historical exhibitions on the tribal wars, the establishment of the Qatari state, and finally the discovery of oil to the present.

The museum welcomed more than 450,000 visitors in less than a year of its opening. The museum attracts people as it depicts Qatar’s history not through paintings and sculptures but with 21st-century lights, sounds and visuals. It was named Best Roofscape honour at the 15th edition of the annual Wallpaper* Design Awards and won two (2)LCD Berlin Awards 2020, the New Culture Destinations of the Year award in the ‘Middle East and Africa’ category and the Leading Culture Destinations of the Year award for Best Museum Shop.
